ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / OSHAS 18001 are the UK and International standards for Quality Assurance, Environmental and Health & Safety management systems. They define how an organisation operates in an effective, efficient and legislative manner. They do not set out extra special requirements, which only a very few companies can or need to comply with. They are practical standards for all elements of industry and commerce.

For a profitable, efficient and effectively managed organisation, this is no more than the formalisation of the company’s sound technical and commercial procedures. The procedures for both administration and operations need to be clearly set out and responsibilities assigned for the manner and conditions in which these procedures are carried out.

 

Procedures should not impose restraints other than those, which are necessary to safeguard the company’s duty of care and commercial interests and ensure that the client’s requirements are recognised and met.

• complies with statutory requirements

• can be provided at a cost that can yield a profit
